On 3 March Formula E will reach its highest point: the 20 single-seat electric racing cars involved in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship will be racing at an altitude of over 2,200 metres above sea level at the Hermanos Rodríguez race track in Mexico City. Enel will be with them as the competition’s Official Power Partner for the second year running.
After Santiago de Chile and before Punta del Este in Uruguay, the ePrix in Mexico City is the midpoint of the trio of races in Latin America. The 2,092 km circuit will be hosting the ePrix for the third consecutive season. The Brazilian driver Lucas di Grassi won last's year's race, and he went on to win the world title with the Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler team.
This year 10 teams and 20 drivers will be competing. The race is sure to be tough, but there is already one clear winner: electric mobility. Formula E is demonstrating that e-mobility is ready for large-scale commercial development and the ePrix events provide the perfect showcase, thanks also to Enel technology. For each ePrix we set up a microgrid involving electricity produced from renewable resources, innovative glycerine generators and solar panels installed at the circuits. The heart of the grid is the Energy Management System, the advanced software that enables the optimised management of consumption and real-time monitoring via tablet or smartphone.
Lining up on the starting grid, we are ready to go.
