The Formula E adventures are just beginning. Once again, Enel – the competition's main energy partner – will assemble a great sustainable infrastructure to supply the race, with the goal of enabling new technologies and uses for the energy.
Until July, the 20 drivers taking part in the competition will have zoomed through the main urban circuits in the world. And as you would expect there is Brazilian energy on the track!
Lucas Di Grassi
Focus, concentration, talent, technique and speed. Since the age of 10, Lucas Tucci di Grassi, from São Paulo, already knew what he wanted to be. A day at the go-karts at his father’s invitation was the incentive he needed. Soon after, Lucas was already participating in championships and winning races.
Today, at 32 years old, Lucas Di Grassi is one of Formula E's top names. Ambassador and development driver in the early stages of the category, Di Grassi participates in the championship as a driver for the German Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport team.
No one has risen to the Formula E podium more often than him. The Brazilian driver is the last Formula E champion.
Nelson Piquet Jr
He has a big name, but his list of accomplishments and trophies is even larger. Nelson Angelo Tamsma Piquet Souto Maior, more commonly known as Nelsinho Piquet, was born in Germany but moved to Brazil as a child. Son of three-time Formula 1 World Champion Nelson Piquet, he also started his career in karting at the age of 8.
Since then, Nelsinho has gone through Formula 3 and GP2, was a test driver for the Renault team, accelerated in Formula 1, led several Nascar categories and participated in Stock Cars races. As if that weren’t enough, in 2015 he entered world motorsport history and will always be remembered as the winner of the first FIA Formula E Championship.
At 32 years old and with a career spanning almost 24 years, Nelsinho races with the joy and excitement of a beginner. He is the main pilot of the team Panasonic Jaguar Racing.
