“In addition to lectures by experts and external visits, the project has multimedia activities on themes such as electric mobility, efficient houses and the energy reality of several places around the world. ”
Last year, Play Energy took place in the Bahia municipalities of Morro do Chapéu and Cafarnaum, in the surroundings of the Morro do Chapéu Sul wind farm, and also in the towns of Ribeira do Piauí and São João do Piauí, close to the Nova Olinda solar plant. The challenge to the Brazilian participants was to turn school into a creative lab, able to explore the world of electricity in a practical way and to improve the planet with creative initiatives. The best ideas were awarded a trip to Uruguay. During the journey, students also had the chance to watch another round of Formula E.
“The development of the Play Energy project and our partnership with Formula E exemplify the path Enel intends to follow, focusing on open innovation and partnerships to transform the future of energy. Thus we look to develop, in the more than 30 countries where we operate, actions that involve society in discussions about renewable energy and innovation.”
In addition to contributing to the improvement of local education, by fostering research on Renewable Energy, Technological Innovation and Environmental Protection, the Play Energy project also aims to meet the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, Quality Education and Clean and Accessible Energy. In the 2017 edition, the project benefitted 3,849 students from 46 Brazilian state schools, as well as 146 teachers and managers.
