Incentivising new ideas and new business models has always been part of the culture of Enel Group’s companies in Brazil. In 2013, in order to integrate all the innovative initiatives created by our employees the Inspire Programme was born. Recognised and awarded since its inception, it reinforces one of Open Power’s most important pillars: Innovation.
Comprised of four areas – ‘Inspire New Ideas’, ‘Inspire Works’, ‘Inspire Multiplies’ and ‘Inspire Entrepreneurs’ – the platform is where Enel employees, partners, suppliers and customers in Brazil can exercise their creative muscles, proposing innovative solutions to daily challenges.
Learn more about each Inspire area:
- Inspire New Ideas: it’s the space for debating creative ideas. Through the Innovation Portal it is possible to take part in discussions, register ideas and talk to mentors. Within this environment challenges are promoted at any time, inviting employees to present innovative practices regarding specific themes.
- Inspire Works: this is when ideas come to life, developing and testing the new solutions. The goal is to find practices that improve the quality of our processes and services, offering better safety, efficiency and financial gains.
Implemented projects take part in competitions within cycles – Products, Processes, Generation and Safety – and, at the end of the year, the winners of each cycle compete with each other to determine the best project of the year.
- Inspire Multiplies: the two tools in this environment were created to help spread innovative practices within the company. In Innovation Stock Exchange it is possible to become a project investor or to open a fictional company for the project presented in Inspire Works. At the end, the 50 best investors receive awards, as well as the companies that best disseminate their practices and raise investment. Business Plan is the space for practices that represent significant financial gain potential for the company. Teams have a year to implement and analyse the project, which will be evaluated by Enel Brasil’s Executive Committee.
- Inspire Entrepreneurs: Created in 2015, it is the Innovation programme environment focusing on developing new products or services with high growth potential. In the project’s initial phase, employees register their new business ideas in the fields of Digitization (IoT), Renewable Energies, Social Development, Fintech, Energy Efficiency and Intelligent Cities + Electric Mobility.
Of the 119 ideas registered in the first edition, 25 were selected to be presented to the Inspire Committee and their proposers had the opportunity to take part in a training course in tools and methodologies to build new businesses. The committee chose six business prototypes and these are now in the new product or service’s acceleration phase.
